Hisham Allam, Egypt, is the chief deputy of investigations at the Cairo-based independent daily Almasry Alyoum newspaper.
In two decades as a journalist, Allam also has worked as a media mentor with the United Nations training program, traveling to places like northern Sudan. He also lectures at universities in London, New York and the Czech Republic. His critique of Egypt’s former regime made him a target for officials who attempted to silence him with numerous legal actions.
