Mabel Rehnfeldt, Paraguay, is an investigative reporter and editor at ABC Digital–ABC Color.

Rehnfeldt has been an investigative reporter since 1991, uncovering cases of corruption and human rights violations in Paraguay. In 2007 and 2008 Rehnfeldt was a reporter on ICIJ’s Tobacco Underground project, following illicit tobacco networks from South America to Europe and Asia.

She is founder and original president of FOPEP, the Forum for Paraguayan Journalists. Rehnfeldt teaches investigative journalism at American University in Asunción, Paraguay.

In 2008 she was awarded the top prize for coverage of corruption from the Latin American Institute for Press and Society and Transparency International. In 2005 she won the Maria Moors Cabot award for reporting in Latin America from Columbia University. In 2004 Rehnfeldt won a Courage Award from the International Women’s Media Foundation.

She has also been a visiting journalist, teaching investigative reporting techniques at major universities and news outlets throughout South America.
