Leonarda Reyes, Mexico, is Executive Director of the Center for journalism and Public Ethics (CEPET) in Mexico, a non profit organization she founded to promote journalism in the country after seven decades of a single-party dictatorship rule and censorship.
She started her journalism carreer with newspaper el Norte, in the northern city of Monterrey, which is the parent company for the now-national newspaper Reforma. Reyes covered topics from national politics to international affairs and was eventually appointed national assignment editor. After eleven years with el Norte-Reforma she went to work as managing editor for national news with TV Azteca before she founded CEPET which she combines with freelance journalism. She is a former Knight Fellow at Stanford University, and is fluent in English and Italian.
