Tom Steinberg became an ICIJ board member in 2018. Tom is based in the United Kingdom and works for a grant-making organization there.
Prior to this Tom was the founder of mySociety, a transparency and accountability organization that pioneered various digital tools. In particular his work focused on technologies that made Freedom of Information Laws easier to use and that made it easier to track the activities of elected representatives. Tom helped numerous transparency and accountability organizations in a wide variety of different countries to deploy technologies to help journalists and citizens keep track of government activities.
