Barbara Maseda, Cuba, is the director and founder of Proyecto Inventario, an independent nonprofit media organization.

Proyecto Inventario combines experimental data gathering techniques, precision journalism and civic tech to expand access to public data and records that contribute to improve accountability, transparency and citizen participation in a closed, authoritarian country like Cuba, where power largely relies on secrecy and restrictions on access to information.

This media startup is the result of Maseda's John S. Knight Journalism Fellowship at Stanford University (2018), where she also expanded on her work about the potential of text-mining applications in journalism.
