Bissane El-Cheikh, Lebanon, is a Beirut-based reporter for the London-based Al-Hayat newspaper.

El-Cheikh is the editor of the paper’s weekly supplement on youth, which tackles the major political, educational issues in the Arab world and covers life- style trends. She has produced special reports from Jordan, Iran, Syria, Iraq, Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, and the United States, including “Secret Wing” for the Senior Leaders of al-Qaeda” and “Iraq being emptied of Christians.”

She is a former fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington D.C., where she worked on the report "Radicalization of the Second- Generation of Muslim Immigrants to the United States."

El- Cheikh also is a media trainer and a coach with Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism.
