Stefan Melichar, Austria, an investigative journalist, started his career in 2006. He worked as an economics, finance and investigative reporter at Wiener Zeitung, before joining the news magazine NEWS as an investigative reporter in 2012. Later he also headed the economy desk at NEWS.

In early 2018, Melichar joined the investigative startup Addendum. Since September 2019, he has been working for the news magazine profil. His emphasis is on corruption, financial crime, offshore structures, financing of political parties and tax issues.

Melichar has been part of ICIJ projects since 2013. Among the projects he has worked on are Offshore Leaks, Swiss Leaks, the Panama Papers, Paradise Papers, the FinCEN Files and the Pandora Papers.

He has collaborated on stories and projects with different media organizations, including Correctiv, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Rise Project, Stern, Haaretz and the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project.

In 2022, Melichar was awarded the Prälat-Leopold-Ungar press prize.
